Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet Anti-spam service. The General Data Protection Regulation, commonly known as GDPR, is a data protection law within the EU that came into effect on May 25, 2018. The purpose of this regulation is to safeguard the privacy of individuals in the processing of personal data, which is a fundamental right according to the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. As the owner and data controller of autisticweekly.com, I am committed to informing you about how I process your personal data. I strive to protect your personal data and adhere to the current privacy legislation in all processing activities. The processing is governed by the EU’s General Data Protection Policy. Below, I describe the personal data I collect, how it is used, and your rights concerning this information.

Usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, geolocation, browser, and operating system are considered personal data as these can be directly or indirectly linked to you. I need to store and process this personal data to moderate comments and reader questions, as well as to send newsletters to subscribers. Additionally, the newsletter service needs to verify that I am not abusing the service to send spam and to generate general statistics about the reach of the newsletters. I delete email addresses and emails when they are no longer needed for the purpose of processing.

To subscribe to my blog posts via email, you must consent to the storage and processing of your personal data. Consent is given by checking a checkbox and then clicking on a verification link (double opt-in) sent to your email address. You have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing at any time. However, withdrawal does not affect the legality of the processing before the consent was withdrawn. Your personal data will be stored as long as needed for the purpose of the data processing or until you request deletion (right to be forgotten). Unsubscribing via the unsubscribe link in the emails is not sufficient to delete your personal data. Contact me through my contact form if you want me to erase your personal data. I use the newsletter service MailerLite to send out newsletters to my subscribers. This means that I share your personal data with MailerLite. MailerLite’s servers are located within the EU. In addition to email addresses, MailerLite also saves and processes information about IP addresses, geolocation, and browsers to generate general statistical reports. I use Google reCAPTCHA in comment, contact, and question forms on the site. reCAPTCHA is a robot filter used to determine whether messages are sent by a human or an automated program. The use of reCAPTCHA and the data it collects (IP address, duration of the visitor’s stay on the website, mouse movements, etc.) is supported by Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR. This article allows me to protect my website from automated spam and other attacks by using, among other things, reCAPTCHA.
